Over the weekend the Japanese community organized their first Nippon festival in West Hartford. The event dragged people across Connecticut due to it's mystical and traditional culture. The event offered music, food, Japanese massages, and Yukata attires that people could wear for free. The atmosphere shouted, "Japan in West Hartford."
The most striking attractions that caught the public's eyes were the "Kento" demonstration (Samurais with swords), mostly because the samurais were children between 10 and 15 years of age who visited Connecticut from New York. Atowa Machita, the Kento's group leader educated the public about Japanese culture.
Food vendors displayed their most popular meals, from the popular sushi to cotton candy.
However, some others preferred to walk to Maruichi, a local Japanese restaurant located a block away from Blue Back Square. It was the ideal point for people who wanted a proportional meal served in a table.

Although the intense summer sun, the community shared pleasant moments. The event ended at 6 pm with positive community feedback.
